The Allen Prize for Young Writers The Prize has three elements:

1. The opportunity to participate in an intensive writing workshop
2. Publication in media including but not limited to the Allen Prize web site.
3. A cash award:
   • Junior category: $1,500
   • Senior category: $2,500
   • Senior category genre winners: $1,000 (Awarded to each of the writers of the best work in fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and drama)

The prize will be awarded on the basis of originality, expression and form. The judges' decision is final.
